photos by Casey and Catherine
This weekend was so beautiful with the moon rising over the Colorado River each evening. The temperatures were moderate for August, just barely into the 100s with cool nights. The weekend did have it weirdnesses. We were to be 13, then 11 and finally only 7 of us drug our butts out to the river (and two of those where injured and came out for the peace and beauty of the river plus the beer and food). Catherine's hydraulics for her "taps" sprung a leak so we all wake boarded since the skier's wake was unavailable. Those who didn't make it missed one of the best trips.
Stupid people populated the river and land. We saw, just around us, 5 trucks stuck big time in the sand. The point down steam had a red truck that was pulling wave runners stuck for most of Friday. Saturday two trucks about 50 yards off the road were in the sand up to the tops of their tires. The best was the guys up steam who stuck not one but two of their 5th-wheel pulling trucks. Check out the photo. One stuckee didn't make any sense as it looked as if the truck had to drive through the picnic table to get stuck where he was. After a couple of hours in the heat of the day, they finally called in a tow truck.
